World Health Summit 2023

The World Health Summit 2023, in collaboration with the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and M8 Alliance, is set to take place from October 15th to October 17th, 2023, at the JW Marriott Hotel Berlin, Germany. There is also a virtual component for those who are unable to join in person.

This prestigious event will gather experts from various sectors, including politics, science, the private sector, and civil society, to shape the future of global health.

Embracing Digital Technologies for Better Health

One of the central themes of the World Health Summit 2023 is “Harnessing the Power of Digital Technologies for Global Health”. In today's rapidly advancing technological landscape, the role of digital innovations in healthcare is more critical than ever before. This theme explores how digital technologies can enhance healthcare delivery, making it more efficient and accessible for all.

About WHS

The World Health Summit (WHS) is the unique international strategic forum for global health. Held annually in Berlin, it brings together stakeholders from politics, science, the private sector, and civil society from around the world to set the agenda for a healthier future by inspiring innovative solutions for better health and well-being for all.

The World Health Summit was founded in 2009 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. It is traditionally held under the patronage of the German Chancellor, the French President, the President of the European Commission, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). President of the World Health Summit is Axel R. Pries, former Dean of Charité.

In addition to the World Health Summit in Berlin, there are annual Regional Meetings and regular Expert Meetings around the world. These meetings are organized by the M8 Alliance, the academic backbone of the World Health Summit.

Special Session: Global Health AI and Robotics

Within this theme, we are thrilled to host a special session titled "Global Health AI and Robotics” scheduled for October 16, 2023, from 09:00 AM to 10:30 AM CEST. This session will delve into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in healthcare.

Our host and group leader, Prof. Dr. Petra Ritter will lead this discussion. The session will emphasize the importance of ethical AI practices, improved diagnosis, treatment, and efficiency in healthcare systems. It will also spotlight Europe's four Testing and Experimentation Facilities for AI and Robotics, including healthcare.

Our distinguished speakers for this session include:

• Prof. Dr. Juliane Fluck, from ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences, Head of Knowledge Management, Germany, who will provide insights into knowledge management in the context of healthcare AI.
  

• Dr. Magali Haas, CEO and President of Cohen Veterans Bioscience (CVB), United States of America, who will share her expertise on the impact of AI in bioscience.
  

• Dr. Susan Thomas, Clinical Director at Google Health, United Kingdom, who will discuss the role of digital giants in shaping healthcare through AI.
  

• Prof. Dr. Thomas Wiegand, Executive Director at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, Germany, who will provide insights into the latest advancements in AI and robotics.
  

• Prof. Dr. Lothar H. Wieler, Chair of Digital Global Public Health at Hasso Plattner Institute, Germany, who will address the global implications of AI adoption in healthcare.
