EUHA Symposium – Rethinking Healthcare Systems

On Thursday, June 13th, Karolinska University Hospital, in partnership with the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA), will host a significant symposium titled “Rethinking Healthcare Systems”. This event will take place at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, and aims to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare across Europe.

The symposium will bring together experts from various healthcare-related fields to discuss critical issues such as workforce shortages, an ageing population, and the high costs associated with advanced treatments. These topics underscore the need for an EU-wide collaborative approach to develop sustainable solutions. One of the event's highlights will be the participation of Prof. Petra Ritter, who will share her insights during the symposium.

A key feature of the symposium is the panel discussion titled "How will AI Evolve the Role of University Hospitals within Society and the Healthcare System?". This session, scheduled for 14:30, will feature Prof. Ritter along with other distinguished panellists.

The discussion will explore the role of AI in healthcare systems, with panellists emphasizing the need to establish effective mechanisms for AI implementation. This includes updating certification requirements to include real-time, continuous testing of AI tools. They will also underscore the importance of rigorous evaluation processes, transparent communication with patients about data usage, and the development of comprehensive data strategies by leading university hospitals.
