BrainModes Conference 2025
Toronto, Canada
Join the global computational neuroscience community at BrainModes 2025, October 8–10 in Toronto, Canada. This year’s event explores the frontiers of brain modeling, dynamics, and cognition—featuring a keynote talk by Prof. Petra Ritter. Don’t miss this essential gathering of thought leaders in theoretical and computational neuroscience!
This year’s BrainModes Conference 2025 will be held October 8–10 at the Fields Institute for Mathematical Sciences, situated at the heart of the University of Toronto St. George campus. Known for its interdisciplinary focus, BrainModes brings together leading minds in computational neuroscience, dynamical systems, and theoretical modeling to explore the frontiers of brain function and cognition.
The theme of BrainModes 2025, “Multi-Scale Mathematical Modelling and Organizational Principles in Neural Dynamics, Cognition, and Computational Psychiatry”, sets the stage for an intellectually rich program.
The conference features a blend of keynote talks, oral sessions, poster presentations, and panel discussions, supported by the Fields Institute’s 2025 Thematic Program in Mathematical Neuroscience. Among the distinguished list of keynote speakers is our group leader, Prof. Petra Ritter, whose expertise in brain modeling will contribute significantly to this year’s discussions.
Prof. Ritter’s Keynote Talk
We are proud to highlight that Prof. Petra Ritter will deliver a keynote lecture on Day 2 of the conference, Thursday, October 9th, at 14:00. The title of her talk will be announced shortly.
This year's Local Organizers
BrainModes 2025 is made possible through the dedicated efforts of its local organizing committee, led this year by Dr. John Griffiths and Dr. Andreea Diaconescu of the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH / University of Toronto.
Join Us in Toronto!
We warmly invite you to attend BrainModes 2025. Registration is now open, with free admission for trainees and subsidized rates for others. Abstract submissions are encouraged, especially for those interested in presenting posters or short talks—top abstracts will be selected for oral presentation slots.
Visit the official website for full details on registration, submission deadlines, and the preliminary program.
About BrainModes
BrainModes is an annual international conference that gathers researchers focused on mathematical and computational neuroscience. The meeting’s name alludes to the foundational concept of “modes” in brain activity, suggesting that the mind and brain can be understood through the lens of low-dimensional dynamical systems.
Attendees come from a wide array of disciplines, including statistical physics, machine learning, and complexity science, creating a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment. Since its founding in 2007, BrainModes has served as a hub for open scientific dialogue and collaboration.
