• Internship: Sarah Janine Sleimann

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Sarah Janine Sleimann as an intern at the Brain Simulation Section. You can find her full report on her time with us including her article on deep brain stimulation in Parkinson'here. We have included an excerpt translated into English below:

I'm Sarah, a 15-year-old student who did an internship at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and was thrilled by it.

At first, I was concerned about whether I would be able to keep up in such a scientific environment, but my fears were unfounded. I was able to take on a wide range of tasks, from attending meetings to programming with Python and writing an article.

I found speaking English particularly challenging. At the beginning, I was very nervous, but over time I became more confident and was able to converse easily with my English-speaking colleagues.

The internship had a lasting impact on me. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also had an enriching time working with the team. The experience showed me that I could see myself working in research and I would recommend an internship like this.
